Walk MS: Rochester, NY 2015

HTC was among the thousands who turned out this past Sunday morning to Genesee Valley Park, located just outside the University of Rochester campus, to participate in Walk MS: Rochester 2015.  It was a picture perfect day for people of all ages to come together and show their support.  Walkers could choose from a 1.5, 3.5 or 5 mile route that followed along the U of R campus and Genesee River.  Kicking off promptly at 10:00am, together the walkers became a giant moving rainbow as people paraded their team colors.

Initially founded by Ms. Sylvia Lawry in 1946 as the Association for Advancement of Research in Multiple Sclerosis, the organization was renamed as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in 1947.  By the late 1960s, Ms. Lawry founded MSIF (Multiple Sclerosis International Federation) which became the building block for a global MS movement.  For over 70 years, the MS Society has been serving the needs of people with MS and their families.   From the creation of education, financial assistance, self-help and counseling programs, to the generation of millions of dollars through fundraising that helps promote research to find a cure.

With over a 140 teams registered, MS Walk: Rochester 2015 helped to raise over $114,000! To learn more about Multiple Sclerosis, make a donation or find a local chapter you would like to support, please visit, www.nationalmssociety.org.
